I'd like you to consider the following:
- What do you think it means when Ms. Best says, "Maybe we haven't progressed as much as we thought we had." Do you agree or disagree? Explain.
- Pick one quote from the article and analyze it. Explain what the is author saying and what their statement says about their attitude toward race.
- Do you think this type of study encourages us to becomes more unified or does it encourage us to look for differences? Explain.
1. I think what Ms. Best is trying to say is that still no matter what people have racial differences. I agree what with Ms. Best saying in her statement. White people wouldn't be comforable with living a certain lifestyle as person from the ghetto. But they would still like to be part of the lifestyle of the ghetto. Listen to hip hop and talking slang is one exaxple. Some people wouldn't like to live in the ghetto but there curious to see what goes on.
ReplyDelete1. I agree with this because Ms. Best I think is trying to say that there was a time when we have racism. And Americans overcame that supposedly, to make this a better place. But Ms. Best is looking at it like we still have racism because of the DNA test. I also disagree because I think that everyone is entitled to have an interest of their own…it’s called freedom.

ReplyDeleteI agree with MS. Best, what he is trying to say was that we still had people that are caught up in race. For example there is some white person that would like to participated in a black culture but I think they would not like to have the same life style
ReplyDelete1. I disagree because many get judged by their skin color. And back in the days people were judged cruelly because of their skin color. For example black couldn’t sit in front of the bus and if you were sitting on a white seat you had to get up and give it to them. So I think we have not progressed as much we thought we would. People still are racist. And I think this society would be better if we all just get along and think that we are all the same not paying mind to your skin color.

ReplyDelete2. "Black people have told me I shouldn't date white people' says Ms. Best which her boyfriend is white. What Ms. Best is trying to explain discrimnation but on both sides. Just because of a color of skin difference does not mean certain people can't date. Its just a color. It dosen't describe who you are.

Its cool" What the Author is trying so say here is that there are those that want to part of something they arent really part of. ReplyDeleteI find that Mr. Harrison’s attitude towards race is the way it should be, because why would he change the way he is when he was brought up that way, just because he found out he is more white then black.
1. I agreed with the statement because what more can people asked for, when you had the answers right in your hands. Yes, people can be a little surprise what they had found out but either way no one can change you. No one would have accepted anything until people found out. There would always be surprises no matter where you go and people should be proud that they are half black or Asian.

It should not matter if you are black or white, it only matter if you are happy where you had came from.
I think people should not care about their skin colors because people should be proud for who they are and what only matter to them. People should not worry as much for the DNA because it would surprise them where their ancestor had came from. People should not listen to other people because it could mess up their mind and people should careless what other says. No one should make a big idea out of it, it is something new in their life and no one should be afraid for who they are.
3. I think people should not care so much about the differences between black and white because no one should judge anyone about their races. No one was born to become perfect and sometimes in life not everyone accept surprises. People should only cares about themselves instead of others.
3. In my opinion I think that this study will unite us more, because it really should not matter what race you are. So if u find out that you are something that you are not or find out that you’re something else rather then what you think you are you should be thankful because you have the opportunity to learn and benefit from other cultures.
ReplyDelete3. This encourage us to look for more unified because there are a lot of people that are racist. And don’t like black people. They get judged because their skin color. For me that is not right because everybody is the same you can’t judge people because their skin color. Back in the days that’s how it was black were separated from whites. It is now that people get along better than before and not even because some are still as racist as they used to be before even more. But I think this article is trying to tell us not to judge people by their skin color.
