“Today men need their wives income”
Now a day’s it’s not like before that once you’re married you have kids and you’re a house wife and you stay home all day wait for the kids to come of the school bus do some homework watch your soap operas and cook some dinner and wait for it to happen all over the next and the next and the next day. Now its not rare at all that you see a women getting up at 7 leaving the kids by 8 at school and heading to the regular 9 to 5 or whatever hours they work. With how the world has changed and how expensive things are a man cannot just bring all the millions home he needs the help from his lovely partner it’s actually to me kind of shellfish for the ones who complain and refuse to work and they literally sit there while there husband works all the crazy hours and they are struggling because there is only one source of income. It is also normal to see a big switch of the women going to work and the man is a stay at home dad. For the ones that can afford to have their wife sit at home and be pretty and have that loyal appointment at the salon every Tuesday lucky you but I believe every women should independent you never know what tomorrow may bring!

ReplyDeleteThis is saying that he is retired and that means more income. But she says she didn’t pick him because she needed a meal but because he respected her. But sometimes to the wife that could be a problem because she is that one doing all the work to get the money. Also most men don’t know how to do house chores. Back then wife’s used to stay home and husbands would go and do all the working, while they were home just doing chores. Now is totally different both of them have to go and work to keep up with the house hold. But in this quote since the women has more education that is why she is making more money than the husband. In my opinion that’s good since the husband is retired they could still live off the pay check his wife gets. Having an education is really important. Like in this article the husband is retired but since the wife has a n education the check is higher.

Many males feel like basically a loser I guess you can say if they see their wife makes way more than he does especially if it’s by a lot. They feel intimated and say no way can’t be with her she makes more than I do that can’t happen. They feel like wow my wife brings in more money and men are very competive so if they speak to their friends or co workers and it’s like wow so she over runs you I guess you can say. And it’s been basically a product of the environment that men should make more money be the head of house hold and the women stays at home and that’s final. In the beginning when all of this was happening females were progressing and making more than a man and bringing more money it was unattractive and intimidating and men would leave but now It’s a normal thing there is nothing wrong with that at all. Men have just gotten over it

This quote to me means that by women being the one with the bigger income, men feel uncomfortable because of the fact that we feel like we are the ones that supposed to be there to provide for our family. On the other hand some men are just fine with their wife getting paid more than them. To me it’s the pride that lets us act that way. But I think that we should be thankful for wives like that because to me that mean that they are with their husbands because there with them for whom they are not because of what they have or what they provide.

ReplyDeleteI chose this quote because Women wouldn’t like anyone that is Weak or that don’t work at all. They want men that could support them in any way that they can. For example they would want a man that can Support them with the Child in Every way possible. Also they want a Man that could work and that can do the work around the house. Most women would like to have a Man that is Equal in the same way that way they can both do the work and none of them will have problems.

Discuss one point that you found surprising about the article.
That since 1970 till now the rate of per 1,000 couples has dropped because women contribute and bring in the money to the house and counting on back then to now you see more women bringing in the money now than before so if this would have been in affect a while ago many marriages would have been saved. And how in some states were the wives has a job that pays less the divorce rates tend to be higher and this was from a 2009 report from the Center for American Progress. It was believed that when a women was more financially stable than her partner it would cause into divorce but in the United States it showed completely different. I found it surprisingly because I really didn’t thank since 1970 that women were bringing in the money.
The quote that I found very important would have to be the opinion in the third paragraph “I picked him no because I needed a meal ticket; but because I liked the fact that he respected me and had no problem sharing the responsibilities of daily life with me” for the reason that it feels this is what a real woman of change would say. Woman in the past had less knowledge in how much power they really had. In my belief this quote is significant since woman would never talk about the man they want to be with like this.

I think thats important because her husband respects the fact the she is the provider of the family now. He took on the job as a stay at home wife and he had no problems with it. Most males feel that they should work and bring home the income for the family. If a male lost his job and the female took over that role it would make a man feel small about himself which causes problems for the marriage. Sort of like a power sturggle i guess?
This is telling me that women have more responsibilities, and that day making more money then the men are in the past years. So now we know that wives can have jobs because there is a lot more freedom for women to go out there and get a job. You know what it would be ok because men can stay with the kids and try to do the mother job and not always working. This is telling me that now women have more power and that if a man would ever get fire or laid off that they would go with no problem and look for one.

ReplyDeletePossibly because of the women getting Money from other people Also it could be that they Fell that their women is being used by someone else. So that’s why they fell that they are being used. I don’t blame them because what if it is true. We don’t know what they are doing so What if they are. So then we might fell that we are being used as if we were nothing. Also We could be working To get money for her but then they would have Money without us knowing then we would fell a little but betrayed.

ReplyDelete1. I think it would me unattractive for a male if his woman is the breadwinner because men feel that they’re the ones that supposed to be there and provide for them and their family. Also I think that men want to feel like they are the ones who taking charge of and doing what they are supposed to do.

ReplyDeleteBecause men want to be the one with the power in the house and it would be different for us to see the woman leave the house in the morning going to work because that’s must lee are job. We feel like we are no good because we don’t have a job so it makes us less useful. It would me feel like I am the women in the house cleaning so it would be so not attractive as men we have to do the dirty work and go out there, and get jobs.

Male are use to paying for everything in the household because they work and have that satisfaction that it's his hard earn money thats paying the bills.

@ Alberto- Can you clarify what you mean when you say that you "the women are getting money from other people"? and that their women are "being used by someone else"?

ReplyDelete1.In the last paragraph of the article “She Works. They’re Happy” by Tara Parker-Pope. It said “that’s great , my husband wouldn’t be able to do it.’ I think they’re selling their husbands short. All guys could do it, just like all women can be the breadwinners.” I found this quote very important and significant because now days men are being more involve in things that it was usually for women in the past years. As the years have passed it shows a big increase of men that are accepting the fact that now days women are contributing in their families financial status, and some of this women are the breadwinners in some cases. Many of this women think that they have earn the husband respect when they are the breadwinners, which shows how women are becoming professional being more independent and not marrying with a man for supporting them economically. Due to this had been a great decrease in couple not divorcing. For this reason this quote caught my attention because now that men are accepting that many women are the breadwinners, woman should also accept the fact that men could also handle the house work .

ReplyDeleteFor many reason males feels that when females being breadwinner, because as the past days, males were the ones that support economically their families and women stay in home doing all the house work, taking care of kids, and they usually didn’t took decision towards their family’s financials. As the years have passed everything had change because now women are being more independent , they have a job , they become professional to have a better job and income. and now days men and women need both of their income to survive in their daily life. This is one of the reason that many men feel inferior when they said that they have to stay at home doing all the work, and their wife goes to work to be responsible for all the economical.

To prove my point males always have been the provider and the woman have been the nurture from cave man to now. To clear what I am trying to say is this people tend to do what we have done for years. Women now is most of the cases are the ones bringing the bigger check in the house and sometime the husband does the wife jobs in the house, therefore now in days women have the best jobs in the country. Women need someone that can support them in anything that they need, don’t be surprised and one of these years we have the first women president of United State.

ReplyDeleteA female breadwinner is unattractive for a male because they feel like the female is in control of everything in the relationship, that female has the power to do anything. Many men were raised with the notion that they have to be in control of all the aspect of the relationship, but having a female breadwinner would not allow that to happen. This in turn causes many old school male to turn away from any female with a higher position than them.

ReplyDeleteThe part I found surprising is when Stephanie Coontz , Said she have more education and more income than her husband, she also said “I picked him not because I needed a meal ticket, but because I like the fact that he respected me and had no problem sharing the responsibilities of daily life with me. More and more women now are able to make those choices.” This is surprising because men are the ones that like to have the power, they love to be in control of the relationship. Even thought she has the bigger income he isn’t competitive with her, which is what I find suprising.
